Ben Monaco:
Hi, it's Ben Monaco and you're watching WatchFighters interviews.

WatchFighters Media:
What is your fighting background and how long have you been training?

Ben Monaco:
The funny thing with my fighting background is I have none. Actually my first actual matches started back in 2011 and it was sort of an improvised match off a grinder date that just happened to go to the guys place. Saw some wrestling videos that I knew were hanging out on his shelf and asked him if he was into that and he said yes. And do you want to try? And we just launched into it and basically sort of picking up my skills. I go over the years.

WatchFighters Media:
How did you get into making wrestling videos?

Ben Monaco:
So that is another, um... another circumstance where I had to match, I think it was out in Toronto at the time. I met up with a well known wrestler from the community there and he snapped several picks of our match showing different moves, different angles, and we were reviewing them after the match. And the first thing he's just like, Oh yeah, he looks like you're really suffering there. I'm like, oh, no, I'm totally fine. He's like, what do you mean you're fine? Like, oh, he could have gone way further with this and like you could have gone like twice, twice the stretch on that move. And he's like, I don't believe you. He said, put me back on the mat, try again.

Took a second set of pictures and that one he went, oh, wait a minute. It's like you ever think of doing like videos for certain wrestling companies and like, well, I mean, I think that they're probably a higher caliber than me. I'm I'm some new bee. I've been wrestling for maybe 6 months at that point. And he's like, no, I was like, trust me. He's like, you can probably do something with this. So he said, let me send the pics to this company. And two weeks later... they were flying me down for a shoot. So I was like, oh, OK. And that sort of evolved into, you know, one shoot became two, became the whole set of matches filmed. And yeah, that's how it kind of got into it.

WatchFighters Media:
What is your preferred fighting attire?

Ben Monaco:
Oof, that is a tricky question because I'm very gear agnostic in the sense that I'm I'm very good with, you know, whatever gear one wants to wear. I tend to favour speedos myself just because it's quick and easy, but a singlet always looks nice too. But definitely more partial to speedos.

WatchFighters Media:
What is it about dominating or suffering that you enjoy most?

Ben Monaco:
You see a lot of guys, a lot of big muscle guys at the gym that God knows I've known...

I've known several where... big hulking guys and the minute you so much as... just push them, it's like ow, no, like this, this hurts. Don't it's too rough. And you're like... [sigh].

So when you're finally like on the mass of someone who, whatever their size, whatever their shape, they're giving you that energy back. You know, you push and they push and it's like, oh, OK, wait a minute. This is this is a different thing. And all right, you know, you sort of feel vibe going someone and just I don't know, it gets you going.

It's very hard to describe feeling someone's muscle in action, seeing their attitude. To think you know someone with some kind of attitude as well... to back up what they're doing... is definitely a plus.
