Sebastian devised a brilliant but risky plan to overthrow Bruno’s tyrannical rule. But Bruno is far too cunning. He is determined to keep his power at all costs, even if it means disrupting the game's regular schedule.
In order to keep his most dangerous opponents restrained, Bruno makes a sinister deal with Kee-a-fas, the game master: he chooses two subjects for torture. Armin and Sebastian both become victims—if Kee-a-fas agrees that the boys should receive no advantage, no time to hide, and that the game should skip hide-and-seek or tag and begin directly with the torture.
Kee-a-fas grants this request, leaving Sebastian no chance to search for the chess piece.
But maybe he doesn’t need to—because someone else may have already found it.
