As i’ve gotten a bit smaller my bear hug has actually improved

that may be a thing, when I first joined the sites in the late 90s into the 2000a I was up to 220lbs and younger so u would think i'd be stronger but actually my forearms and shoulders are more solid and my fores are over an inch bigger, I get far more submissions now wth a hug
